The internal screw that would secure the plastic cap over the drive caddy
became unthreaded .. and broke .. It was a tiny grooved piece of aluminum
So the next best thing ... I drilled out a hole about a 1/2" from the corner
using the 90 degree bracket and making sure it would not affect the drive inside, or it closing.
Parts Needs :
Metal drill bit (going through aluminum frame)
Drill (mine sucked .. have to buy a wired one)
90 degree metal bracket
Screw/bolt
silicone for car gaskets
Cost -
Bolt/screw kit - $2
90 degree bracket - $1 (maybe)
silicone car gasket maker - $3
Whole thing should cost about $5-6 or just use stuff acound the house and spend no $ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I removed the sata drive while doing this mod .. just in case .. but because I measured correctly, It was not a problem.
Use the plastic drive caddy top as the measuring device .. if your bracket is too long, you would be drilling into the drive's area of the laptop, and thus - not be able to put that screw through the frame of the laptop.
**PSA - I am not to be held responsible for any damage you do to ANY of your crap because you listened to me on this blog for ANY of my posts **
Once you have the hole drilled - slip the screw through the frame, and bolt it tight. Then apply some of the gasket sealer, and let it sit in a way that it wont be glued to a table or something.
Good luck, hope this helps.
