Ghost ORB, and a turkey shot ..

Yo,

Here is a pic from the last ghost hunt I have been able to attend.
I heard something creak (like wood or something) next to me, and it freaked me out a bit. I kept snapping pic, and this out came out..

I tried for a while to re-create the photo, and debunk it, but could not.

That is very large. I want to get some more hunts going, but havent had the time. This halloween, maybe I will find a 'haunted' site to go to ... we'll see.

Now for the other part of the post -
Turkey time -

VMWARE server out of desktop

Yo,

I made a vmware ESXi 5.1 server out of a hp dc7900
My buddy gave me a bunch of memory for it, and I
added hard drive to it, and added them as datastores.
I also made a false bay out of an old cd rom  -- check it out.
Also, put a SSD in there :)   needed an ssd ...
It works pretty well, and boots very fast compared to my other vmware server.

Fedora Tablet out of old tablet

Yo,

So check this out ..
I took an old HP tablet, and threw fedora 17 on it.
It jams, and has a touch pen to use as a mouse, and a keyboard that can be detached .. and usb ports, and sd card port, and pcmcia ..
Actually a pretty useful machine .. and built in wifi.
not a bad deal .. not the fastest thing on the planet as it only has a single core, but good for a work beater w/o having to lug another laptop.

check it out.

Started Playing w/ Glowz spray paint ... having a good time

Who knew that you could have so much fun for $5 ?

I have always been fascinated by anything that glows in the dark ever since i was a little kid.

I started seeing these cases for cell phones that glow in the dark ..
Then got jealous ..

Every phone but the phone I have (evo3d) has a crappy case available that glows in the dark except for mine !

It came out like a year ago! WTF ?

So, I started to thing about the new "Glowz" paint from krylon ..

I've seen a few posts on the web about what other did with it ..

Its a little hard to work with, I'll admit, but figured, if I got a clear case for my phone and sprayed the crap out of it with glowz it would be fine ..

I was not wrong ..

But then I got to thinking .. what else can I spray and make glow ..

I wanted to paint everything in the house but, started with my mini mouse for my laptop .. but, the phone case barely captures the light it puts out .

But either way, check these out .. in case another person had the same idea ..

I had 2 of these mouses... mice ?
deer? flock of deers ?
..

any way ..
The old one died, and I throw almost nothing out, for stupid ideas/projects like this one :)
I just kept the original top, and put the glowing one on there.

Here is my spray area .. That thing on the left is the case for my evo3d.

It glows LIKE CRAZY ... I will post an update below, once its
on the phone, and its at night .. Might be easier to                    find phone at night, when I lose it like a dipshit ..

This is as close  a pic as I can get of the night glow .. you can just barely make it out .

So there we have it .. I will post more as I continue to do more with this magical paint.
It needs some scraping and manipulation to make it fit the mold again .. but works sweet .

Prelude intake AGAIN .... Yes, this would be the 5th time ..

Hi,

I think I may be a glutten for punishment.
This coming weekend, I am going to do the intake on my 96 h22 prelude.

Ive done this job ... 4 times before ..

I have a brand new skunk2 IM in the box, and all the gaskets necessary.
Hopefully, this will be smoother than previous times.

The 99 SH prelude was a bitch to work on because of the ATTS unit, and it was NOT compatible w/ the ECU in that car. Didnt stop me from doing the job 2 times (once in, once out) .. and then selling the intake .. (i thought i was done w/ preludes after that one) .. little did I know ..

I will post more stuff as I get it done, but I am getting a new car soon.
My prelude will be kept as a toy/winter beater.
Im not able to get rid of it .. I cant bring my self to do so.
I loved this car(s) more than my corvette, camaro, and trans am.

Heres a link below to my previous post. Ill grab some pics as I do this one again.
Fun times

and the update-

http://briand354.blogspot.com/2011/09/prelude-intake-update.html

IBM T60 :Laptop: Fix ... The hdd threading went bad .. so .. i drilled ..

The internal screw that would secure the plastic cap over the drive caddy
became unthreaded .. and broke .. It was a tiny grooved piece of aluminum

So the next best thing ... I drilled out a hole about a 1/2" from the corner
using the 90 degree bracket  and making sure it would not affect the drive inside, or it closing.

Parts Needs :
Metal drill bit (going through aluminum frame)
Drill (mine sucked .. have to buy a wired one)
90 degree metal bracket
Screw/bolt
silicone for car gaskets

Cost -
Bolt/screw kit - $2
90 degree bracket - $1 (maybe)
silicone car gasket maker - $3

Whole thing should cost about $5-6 or just use stuff acound the house and spend no $  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I removed the sata drive while doing this mod .. just in case .. but because I measured correctly, It was not a problem.
Use the plastic drive caddy top as the measuring device .. if your bracket is too long, you would be drilling into the drive's area of the laptop, and thus - not be able to put that screw through the frame of the laptop.

**PSA - I am not to be held responsible for any damage you do to ANY of your crap because you listened to me on this blog for ANY of my posts **

Once you have the hole drilled - slip the screw through the frame, and bolt it tight. Then apply some of the gasket sealer, and let it sit in a way that it wont be glued to a table or something.

Good luck, hope this helps.

How to hack a compound bow sight (for more UV)

Yooo.

Wassup!?
Been a while since I last posted something cool ..
Havent had time .. shits been busy.
All no one comments, so IDK if anyone even bothers to read what I post.

Not that many people like to hack and mod I realize.

But, I'm not one of them.

So recently, my buddy got me hooked on archery .. and its so much fucking fun.. I have to admit.

He bought a new compound bow, and hooked me up w/ his old one.

Doing the only thing I could think of, I started hooking it up w/ the normal accessories .. first was arrows, second was a sight.

I then ran into a cool issue/idea ......
The sight came w/ a uv led.  Having played w/ UV leds for a few years straight now .. I figured .. what the hell ..  I could make a WAY more powerful one for a few bucks ..  After a bad test  (that burned out horribly !) I had to go back to the drawing board .
But, I think I have the formula figured out .. its taken several tries (other the years) and I came upon what I think it a solution.

Check this out ..
Here is what the light looks like in complete darkness (or as dark as I can get it :) ]

Rear view of the modded sight

close up of the bezel, with the UV's on.

Here is the powering mechanism. This is just a 9v battery attached to a power plug.

To light it: All you have to do is swing the battery terminal onto the
9V prong. Nice and easy. I didnt want to add a toggle switch.

bad pic of the 9v zip tied to the mount for the sight itself. weights almost nothing.

I can wait til the season for hunting. This is the year.
I dont think the light that it gives off will make the deer alarmed,
but well see I guess. At complete worst, I can turn it off easily.

we shall see ..

Raspberry pi in a box

I put a raspberry pi in a box .
It's slow but still badass.
I didn't want to pay crazy $ for a case so I just dremelled myself one out of a $1 plastic food container.
